Our Insulated StyroFoam Coolers are manufactured from Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and have a standard wall thickness of 1-1/2”. An outer corrugated carton is also supplied with each cooler. Dimensions listed are INSIDE USABLE dimensions.
PackagingPrice also manufactures insulated packaging from Arctic Foil™. Arctic Foil™ items are a great alternative to foam insluated shipping boxes. First, Arctic Foil™ insulated box liners are typically up to HALF THE COST of comparable foam coolers. They also ship flat so they save you in freight and warehousing costs.
Arctic Foil™ is insulation made from reflective bubble material which acts as a radiant barrier. It is essentially bubble packaging with a layer of aluminum foil laminated to it. You may have seen this material as insulation in your home -- wall insulation or perhaps around a water heater. It is also commonly used as the insulation in “soft coolers” – the duffel bag type beverage coolers popular today.
PackagingPrice fabricates the Arctic Foil™ into various types of insulated shipping boxes and packaging:
Insulated Boxes: Arctic Foil™ can be designed to line any size standard shipping box in either a “criss cross” design, or into an airtight gusseted box liner.
Insulated Bags: We can manufacture Arctic Foil™ into insulated pouches similar to standard bubble mailers. We can also convert the reflective bubble material into gusseted bags.
Thermal Pallet Covers: Arctic Foil™ can also be fabricated into pallet covers. These can be used to insulate pallet loads of perishable products without having to individually insulate each package.
All of the Arctic Foil™ items can be custom sized to suit your individual needs.
So how does Arctic Foil™ Work? It’s fairly simple. First, you need an understanding of how insulation works. All types of insulation are designed to reduce heat transfer. Heat transfer is the natural phenomenon that causes cold items to heat up, and hot items to cool down. There are three processes in nature that cause heat transfer:
Conduction: When you heat a piece of metal at one end, the other end of the metal will heat up due to conduction.
Convection: The air above a bon fire heats up and rises, cool air takes the heated air’s space, and is then in turn heated and rises. All of this heating of air transfers heat from the fire. This phenomenon is known as convection.
Radiation: Hot objects tend to radiate infra red light to other objects. When other objects absorb the infra red light, heat is generated.
Foam Innsulated Containers do an excellent job of preventing conduction and convection, but ignore radiation. Arctic Foil™ shipping boxes, on the other hand, prevent all three types of heat transfer. First, the layer of aluminum foil reflects up to 97% of the infra red, radiation, heat. Then, the bubble material combats conduction and convection in the same way StyroFoam coolers do. The result is an extremely efficient, low cost, insulation.
