Stretch Wrap & Shrink Wrap
PackagingPrice offers both Stretch Wrap and Shrink Wrap. Stretch wrap is used as a pallet wrap to secure boxes on a pallet during shipment. The elasticity of the film holds the load tight.
Shrink Wrap is typically used when wrapping a single item or product such as CD’s, DVD’s, or gift baskets. A shrink wrap heat gun is used to heat the shrink film which causes it to shrink around and seal the product. Both stretch wrap and shrink wrap can be used to bundle products together for shipping purposes.

Although people commonly use the terms interchangeably, there is a difference between stretch wrap and shrink wrap. Stretch Wrap is the plastic film that is used to wrap pallets of materials before shipping them. Shrink Wrap is typically used to unitize smaller items, or to act as a dust cover around items.
Stretch wrap can be broken down into two main types by the manufacturing method used to make the film: Blown Stretch Film and Cast Stretch Film. Cast stretch wrap is most commonly used in automated or machine applications. Blown stretch wrap is most commonly used in hand applied applications.
Have you ever purchased a case of soda that came with a plastic wrap around the cans rather than a box? Well, that plastic wrap is Shrink Wrap. Shrink wrap is used to bundle and unitize products such as cases of soda, bottles of water and other items. Shrink Film is also commonly used as a dust protector and pilfer evident wrap around items such as software boxes or gift baskets.
